Your dad was a lucky guy. Before marrying your mom, they were high school or college sweethearts who fell in love. This is also a reason why dating isn’t quite like it used to be as compared to the past. Besides that, it’s a very rare occurrence, at least in western societies, for people to get married and start families at extremely young ages.
Back in the day, it was common for a couple to get married before either one reached the age of 20. Not so common in today’s world. In general, today’s men and women want to pursue higher education after high school, and see the world once school is finished and the timing is right. We also prefer to get a decent job before settling down, and may change jobs a few times before doing so.
We need more options. That’s not to say that dear old mom and dad didn’t have choices. But back in their time, there was no such thing as the Internet, and traveling the world for romance wasn’t as popular as it is nowadays. So let’s go back to the most important person in this article – you. You want to find a woman to settle down with, but don’t quite know where to meet her, or how.
That being said, you need to have an idea about how today’s dating culture works. You need to know this because awkwardness shows, and while women find that sort of cute and endearing for a minute, they’re ultimately looking for a guy who shows confidence.

Dates take place at the corner cafe during lunch breaks and dates can take place while you’re at the airport waiting to board a plane. Women are so much different from the way they were in our parents’ time – they sometimes enjoy sporting events as much as they would a dinner date or a movie. What all this means is that there are no hard and fast rules anymore about where to meet women, or how to have a date.
Just like a good Boy Scout, you need to be prepared to think of ideas on the fly. You need to be open to possibilities as they present themselves. And you need to be ready to step out of your comfort zone.
What if you fail? That shouldn’t get you down. As they keep on saying, practice makes perfect. You’ll only find yourself on the losing end if you lose confidence and stop trying, so there’s nothing to lose if you keep on practicing.
